Who we are
PGCA is the charitable organisation (registration number 522127) that runs Preston Grange Commununity Centre. It was established in 1970 for the benefit of local residents and those in the surrounding areas. We currently have 350 members.
A Trustees Committee of 12 members is elected each year at the AGM, with the key roles being Secretary, Chairman and Treasurer.
What we do
The main challenge for the Trustees is to provide and maintain the community facilities for the organisations and individuals that use them. Clubs using the centre currently include:
Mothers and Toddlers
Ladies Keep Fit clubs
Gentleman’s Regency clubs
Ladies Tuesday Club
Tap and Salsa Dance Club
Preston Grange Community Church
The centre is also used as a social venue for family parties (eg. birthdays of all ages, christenings, wakes, wedding receptions etc); a location for other fundraisers, charity organisations and youth clubs to use for their benefit free of charge; Local Councillors to hold their weekly surgeries; Stroke Support Groups; and as a polling station.
How we're funded
PGCA raises some of its own financial funds through social functions, membership fees, room hire fees and returns from a fruit machine and pool table. This income is insufficient on its own and is substantially supplemented with an annual donation from Preston Grange Facilities(PGF).
This is a licensed social club, also run and managed by the Trustees Committee. It is open four nights a week, plus Sunday lunch time. The PGF makes an annual donation to the PGCA, which represents the net annual profit from its licensed operations.
